Karzzz remake will have 3 songs from the original!!
Karz remake will have 3 songs from the original
Satish Kaushik’s Karz will be very different from Subhash Ghai’s original. What will remain are three of Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s songs namely Dard-e-Dil, Om Shanti Om and the theme song Ek Haseena Thi. This gives Himesh who sees himself as L-P’s inheritor, a chance to pay homage to his raga-models.
Dard-e-dil is, in fact, one of Himesh’s all-time favourite songs. Himesh insisted on having it in Karz. “But even the adapted songs will be interpreted in a new way. They’ll be sung and re-designed by Himesh. And just as in the original, the theme Ek Hasina Thi will be used in the background throughout my film”, Satish informs.
The fate of Ram Gopal Varma’s Sholay notwithstanding, the extended spell of remakes continues. Satish Kaushik is half-way through the scripting of the remake of Subhash Ghai’s Karz. But here’s the catch.
“My remake will be very different from Subhash Ghai’s film. It’s of course being done with Himesh Reshammiya’s personality in mind. I’ve the highest regards for Himesh as a musician. My Karz will highlight the protagonist’s role as the rock star. I don’t want to focus that much on the reincarnation theme. I’ve done many remakes earlier. Does my Tere Naam look anything like the original Telugu film? states Satish Kaushik.

wow thats great i really cant wait the music and the movie will rocke for sure
Jessi
hi guys..first of all i’d like to congratulate you and thank you for making such a wonderful site about the most talented music director + singer of all times.
I am from bangladesh and can say with no doubt that i am not only a big fan of himesh bhai but also respect him a lot for the person that he is. We in B’desh love himesh bhai but alike india and other countries we’ve got some people who critisise him no matter how talented he is. Though, i always fight back and put in examples of songs like ‘Viraniyaan’, ‘main jahaan rahoon’ ahista ahista’, kitne pyaar karte tumhe sanam’ that our guru has created. With great pride, i am informing you that some of those people have now become a himesh bhai fan as well as it is impossible to ignore the great man’s talent.
I mainly have a query. The song from Namaste London, “Main Jahaan Rahoon” is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Krishna. But in the movie, the song is sung by himesh reshammiya himself. I am looking for that song crazily. The original CD of N. London didnt come to B’desh so I am not sure if that song is included in the CD. Can u please arrange me the song ‘Main jahaan Rahoon’ sung by himesh bhai, not the one sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. I Have the one where Rahat Fateh ALi Khan sings. Looking for your reply soon.
Thank you,
Keep up the good work,
Sameer. Sameer
@Sameer: Hi! Firstly, thank you for all your compliments! It is with great pleasure that we bring this site to Himeshji & to all HR fans, as we love the rockstar just as much as you all do
!
With regards to your query, I believe that it is only Krishna & Rahet Fateh Ali Khan who have sung “Main Jahaan Rahoon” (in the film, both remix & original versions). Please listen very carefully to the song next time, as I believe that Himeshji only sang a portion of Main Jahaan Rahoon live on the reality show SRGMP c2007, he did not sing the song which was in the film, only composed it. Hope answers you’re question! Keep posting! Jem

My family always tells me that they miss me a lot,i just tell them one thing in return that just listen to himesh songs and you will feel my presence very near to you. As always,I have been constantly listening to HR songs day in-day out and I`must say that i prefer his songs before the aashiq banaya era (1998-2005) more than the happening current songs, ofcourse with some exceptions. Also i would like to add that in recent times, the melody in himesh’s music is lost,or rather it is hidden and overcome by other elements in the songs and hence not fully reflected.I feel that less thought and detail is given to his recent songs in terms of music arrangement (refer to ranjhana-nanhe jaiselmer, average song but it is difficult to sit through it coz of those loud beats, esp with the headfones on), there are same beats and same underlying pattern/style of anthra/mukhda and some words/lines being repeated and murdered till death, some of which have also started to get onto my nerves and that feeling of ‘oh,not again’,but being a HR fan i would still take them anytime. You should take a break from suck kinda songs and pour them out after a gap.Himesh, i would like to urge you to shift your focus back to soulful romantic/thriller tracks with occasional painful, peppy item (and not just out-and-out dance tracks),use typical indian rather than urdu lyrics, use more indian instruments, expolit alka yagnik’s voice to the core and bring back the soothing female chorus. Variety is the key.
I should also point out that Aap ka suroor and Namastey london, your two biggies this year, were great albums but barring Tanhaiyaan and Yahi hota hai pyar, they didnt quite live up to the hype and my expectations.I am saying that in the hope that new new albums from your stable would be unique, exclusive, mind blowing and top quality. The positive thing is that,in a way its good that you are composing for your films only, as you would give best music to yourself and the gap would create an impact. And for those who dont know, himesh composed for his first tamil film called BOMMALATTAM, you might wanna check it out, n I guez there may be some backlogged albums like Dasavadharm,Welcome,Mr.Fraud,Love Story 2050,Alibaug etc etc that having himesh at their helm, something to look to alteast! Best of luck for your future projects, you could consider doing cameos and special/guest appearances and give music for those films too,n try to go the original way (re:Karz), ciao. die hard HR fanatic
@die hard HR fanatic: Hi, your comment has been edited because it was too long. Please listen to the soundtrack “Fear” & “Tadap” – from Darling – both feature completely new styles by Himeshji.
Jem
@ Jem, actually its polite of you to say that, coz I think that the real reason for editing is different. And if length indeed was the reason, then I would be quite happy to resubmit the part that didn’t appear! Also I have realized (actually a while back) that I have violated your ‘about us’ page once too often. So, basically I need to post favorable reviews rather than critical reviews based upon merit, and confine my freedom of speech to suit this site’s requirement. But with that, the purpose of posting and expressing my viewpoint in any context gets defeated.
***die hard HR fanatic: your point has been read & noted by site team, it is being edited from the post so as not to offend other HR fans***
@ context to Tadap and Fear….nanhe yaar, tu hai ishq, dil ki deewaro pe were treats, but I was talking of variety in songs that he sings. I agree that Tadap was different, but Tanha had traces of mile ho tum to, namumkin etc in terms of similar pattern, style and genre i.e. the overall mode. His ‘sufi-rock’ compositions have become sort of predictable due to strong association/link between his numerous such preceding songs. There are many common noticeable characteristics i.e. beats, high pitched verses, repeating of words/lines etc that I had been overlooking, but now they have become evident. Compare and contrast these songs with Chakna, Vireeniya, Yahi hota hai pyar, Jhooth nahi bolna, kitna pyar karte hain, ahista ahista etc. I am sure that you and any other HR fan will acknowledge the difference. Since you specifically mentioned Tadap and Tanha (Fear), both their stanzas are high-pitched and almost begin from the same note (I know I am a bit technical here, since I can play any song on the piano though I don’t have any formal music knowledge, I like fiddling around and playing his songs to get his sense of composition, which I like to term as “heavenly divineâ€. I was emphasizing that he should try to sing songs in mixed balance and variety of genres, give careful thought to music arrangement, and pour in his overstock of ‘sufi-rock’ songs after good time intervals. That’s why my stand-alone album for this year has to be Namaste London. Albums in this year (except Red, SLBB, AKS and NL) and those albums after mid-year 2006 onwards didn’t quite enjoy similar past fate or live up to his success rate in all these years and that is an acceptable reason for reduction in quantity of his music. Anyway, since HR is doing selected work, I don’t think quality will now be an issue anymore.
The time has come for me to just let it go and take it easy policy B-) die hard HR fanatic
@die hard HR fanatic:
With regards to Himeshji’s style, I don’t know why people do not realise just how difficult it is to come up with a different style of music!! Even if he does come up with a new style, it may not even take off!! As for his albums such as Nanhe Jaisalmer etc they were all composed last year before he went on his world tour so he was using his old style – its only due to production issues that they have released this year.
I will still say that the music of his forthcoming films e.g. Karz, Kajarare & a Love Shhstory will most likely be outstanding as he is concentrating 100% on them at the moment so I guess its best to say just wait & watch what comes next
Jem
….yep….he should just try to mix it up….n i think that his music from now on will be of outstanding and top-quality as he has gone selective and he will leave no stone unturned to give his best to himself….with mention of that….i wish him best of luck with forthcoming movies as an actor….and hope that all the four movies have some space between release dates to enjoy greater success rate and create an even bigger impact (keeping in mind that all 4 roll early next year at almost the same time)….one great album after a gap of 3 months sounds fine if the timing of release would suit….anyway keep going himesh! and the site-team as well! B-) die hard HR fanatic
his next films will be the biggest hits of bollywood & he will become the best actor of next year. AKHIL
