Brief Background of the song
Tere Bina, can be said to be the main theme song of Aap Kaa Surroor the moviee. Its main haunting violin part is derived from the melody in Himeshji’s first private album Aap Kaa Surroor. The song features at the beginning of the film and at the climax. The song has a haunting melody and well written lyrics, and some critics have often said they can feel the pain in Himeshji’s voice when he is singing this song. It has been chosen as the 1st most popular song from the movie

Its a most famous n most requested track of HR…..even HR haters loved dis song so much…. m waitin 4 d gr8 n versatile album lyk namastey london,aahista aahista,tere naam,aapka surroor,aitraaz,humraaz etc. 4m Hr side……..HR must use javed akhtar as lyricst bcoz he is gr8 n most versalite…….bas himeshji kuch aisa kar do ki Haters ka muh band ho jaaye…..

I am aware that this is the favorite song of some. Personally, for me this song sits nowhere near my favorites or second favorites list. Whenever the few times I have tried to give it a hear, it has failed to hook me on. Hence, I would term it as an average, simple, ordinary, usual, nothing special out of the box song from himesh reshammiya that he could compose anytime even in his sleep.
Yes, what I can credit HR is for the way he has sung it with passion/emotion and the lyrics that go hand-in-hand with the songs mood. But this is definitely not a song I would personally recommend to a first-timer or a foreigner who wants to find out exactly why himesh reshammiya has created such a mass hysteria.
If hr want 2 become most versatile composer then he must use prasoon joshi/javed akhtar or gulzar as lyricst…lyrics of sameer r nt of high standard,he is continously repeatin the same words afsana,ehsaas,anjuman,lamha,kashish,aalam etc. HR did his masterpiece wrk in namastey london..lyrics of every song of namastey london were totally fresh n vry amazin…..in karzzzz songs masha allah,lut jaaon,dhoom tere ishq ki n tandoori nytr-lyrics r mindblowing but in the songs sisak sisak ke,hari om-below average lyrics n tere bin chain na aave-repetitive lyrics…….kab tak jhelna hoga sameer ko huh

IMHO, I feel Sameerji is a very emotion driven lyricist and I have always admired the lyrics he has given Himeshji. I also know that Sameerji will only be working for Himeshji’s forthcoming projects as he has decided to stop working for other films. I am sure the lyrics will be amazing as always!
forget about the lyrics…..people go mad just by hearing HRs composition….but i dont think lyricist will create problem for HR….its always his composition that makes the news,………..
Hello, I THINK SAMEER IS THE BEST FOR HIMESHJI, I M DIE HARD FAN FOR 5 SONGS THAT R aashiq banaya aapne, tera suroor, tera mera milna, tere bina, tanhaiyan…. These songs makes me himeshji’s die hard fan
sameer is the best as a lyricyst for HR’s songs.i just love his lyrics with HR’s voice and composition.
@ jeetu, I am aware that some rate this song as his best. Shockingly though, I don’t rate it very highly. Its not that I am biased but critically honest as to what I feel. I would give 100/100 to HR for his feel/emotion, but otherwise it is by far a very ordinary tune, and I would hate to say it that some parts of the song get on my nerves ie. Teri yaad mein, kitne mere, aansoo gire, na mene gina……dil ki gali mein aashiqui senha yaha……kya yeh zami kya aasmah sune mere…for me, this forceful high pitch spoil the otherwise soft good-feel mood of the song and probably that’s what has prevented me from getting into the groove of this song. According to me this song is over hyped way too much but remember that’s just my opinion though! I would take an average kola laka vellari over this song, which surprisingly I rate very highly.
For me, the best SAD song Himeshji has EVER produced is “chahe gila karo” from Aap ka Suroor, this song just blows me away in terms of emotions.
Also personally, I don’t have any problem with sameer but I think that variety is getting strangled in HR albums i.e. same singer, same lyricist, same style of songs. The only variety is the female singers. That’s why now himesh reshammiya should come out of his comfort zone and experiment with his sound just like other versatile music directors do. In terms of other lyricists, who can forget Namaste London (javed akthar), yeh hai jalwa (sudhakar sharma), ahista ahista (new lyrics) so may be he should work with others too, as it will definitely create something different. One thing that I will agree though with all due respect to sameer sir, that he has indeed given his best work to HR and his lyrics are simple and rhyming.

Himesh this is the best & emotional song of Aap Kaa Surroor. And the lyrics of this song are most beautiful. When i listen this song any time or any where i fell that every one is imperfec without his/her life partner. Himesh hates off to you for this and every song those you sang or you composed. Himesh you are a true rockstar, singer, music director and as well as an actor.
Personally, I think Namumkin from Shakalaka Boom is one of Himeshji’s saddest songs – however every one’s perception of “sad emotions” is very different, hence we all love different tracks of his

If you ask me, personally I haven’t quite enjoyed that much both his Karzzzz an AKS-The Moviee albums, infact I enjoyed his previous albums much more. What I notice is that HR is playing very safe and working on a guaranteed success masala recipe, but with that he isn’t experimenting and is stuck in a predictable sound. The BEST thing with HR is that he is original, but the bad thing is that he becomes way too repetitive. That’s why so many albums in 2006 year end went begging. Especially when HR himself believes in change, its high time to create a NEW FRESH sound rather than that similar pattern. For me, there is no favorite song in karzzzz though all songs have their identity. In AKS-The Moviee, Tanhaiyaan and Tera mera Milna.
But if some one gave me a choice to pick 5 albums from lets say AKS (non-filmi), Aksar, ABA, Ahista Ahista, 36 China Town, Red, Rocky, AKS-The Moviee and Karzzzz, I would pick 36 CT, Red, Rocky, AA, ABA, Aksar. In other words, I enjoyed these soundtracks with clear favorite songs I could pick, yet they were his non-films albums he composed in bulk. I am disappointed with the sound he has created in Karzzzz and AKS-The movie especially when he worked so long on them and claimed to give his best to himself, an opinion I don’t share. Frankly speaking, I expected way better/superior soundtracks.
Also I infer that the motto of HR is “sky is the limit” which is an excellent thing. But I feel it wasn’t a smart choice to make karzzzz, as in his second attempt he attempted to fill in very big shoes and comparisons were just inevitable and gave people a chance to make unfair comparisons. The supporting star case didn’t help either, it was as if they all woke up suddenly from the dead. I was very pleased to see ASRANI in Karzzzz because he is an ACE comedian, and danny to an extent, but the rest of support cast was a dud, certainly not helping himesh reshammiya in his cause.
The marketing and target audience went wrong. It was known that AKS-The Moviee did very well in single screens, yet Karzzz eyed a grand release in multiplexes. Also, I know that HR wants to prove that he can be as big as any top star in bollywood in terms of grand movie budgets, but remember at end of day it’s the BO that counts, and bigger the budget, the more time it will take to recover that initial money.
My suggestion to HR for success, forget your ego and stick to low-medium budget films albeit with good directors/banners/directors, work with some mainstream support actors so that entire weight of movie isn’t on his shoulders, target your strength (single screens) and release the movie in limited prints and if word of mouth spreads then increase it to the multiplexes. Play a safe rather than a big game of casino!
Totally agree with jem! NAmumkin is 1 of HR’s saddest songs. Its very well composed, sung n isn’t in the so-called nasal voice! That’s my favourite track from shakalaka boom boom.
But, i personally feel we should not compare HR with any other music personality.
tere bina was the theme song of the movie n was loved by 1 and all. Its my favourite track from the movie along with tera mera milna!

Well, I won’t critique this song much more, than saying it is a very simple “déjà-vu” tune and though I can be a bit lenient and term it decent, but personally for me this song is NOWHERE near the BEST works of HR, just my opinion though! I am rather surprised why this song is hyped so much, anyways I won’t question that.

“Kola laka vellary ws weakest track of HR nt average”, for me kola laka was a pleasant surprise that grew on me (and is still growing) with every repeat hear. This song is SPECIAL. Just look at the beats/orchestration, and when HR croons in his lower-octave in the beginning and right in the end at unplugged part “tujhe yaah karke, mujhe chain aave, mere jaaniya ve”, oh what to say, it just blows me apart and the four/five heavy beats that kick in after that give me such sike and rush of adrenaline, I am proud of HR to have made such a song, one thing I can say that sameers lyrics were plain ordinary that worked against this song, even I had zero expectations from it when I saw the title lyrics as kola laka vellari, but the composition got heavy on me by the day
For me I would choose kola laka vellari (that some call as weak) anytime over tere bina (that I term as weak), but at the end of day, as someone said “however every one’s perception is very different, hence we all love different tracks of his”, and we are all his fans but would swear by different favorite songs
Some people are talking about HR’s versatility, well I won’t question his versatility as a music composer, but I can add an insight for himesh reshammiya – the singer, in isolation
Personally for me, a very exciting chapter could unfold the day himesh reshammiya – the singer decided to sing for everyone. Initially I was very against this thought, but after careful thought I changed my opinion. Now I know that in his current business model this is not feasible, and also since HR doesn’t get on very well at times (as evident in saregamapa) since he thinks he is superior or whatever ego problems.
Talking of his versatility (in addition to being a composer/actor), HR should also think about ONLY his singing career and how to be the best as a SINGER. But for him to appreciate that, he must not think at that time that he is also a music composer or else he will always limit his talent to his own compositions. Also, he strongly believes in change and has never hesitated to try something new i.e. tv producer, composer, singer, actor.
But I am thinking of the day when HR will say “I am open to any singing assignments from now on”, that will be a day of revelation as all other popular music composers will be itching/dying to offer him to sing their TOP tunes, and himesh reshammiya will be NO.1 everywhere, if not as a music composer, but definitely as a SINGER. Along with the success of other composers will also be his success as a singer, and success for his fans who will have so much to look forward to. I am shuffling my hands at such a prospect, and then HATERS KA MOOH BANDH HO JAYEGA.
But you know what, reality is far from dreams!

@Rahul: Mein aapki baatein, samaj sakti hoon, magar awards sirf jury decide karti hain – ismein hum kuch nahi kar sakte. Waise bhi, as Himeshji’s fans, we know how much we love his music, and he knows as well – so I don’t think we should worry about these award ceremonies

we cant underestimate HRs versatality…..if he starts singing for other composers then his usp will be lost……he might become a famous singer but the magic we feel in his voice when he is singing for his compositions will be lost….its better to give quality work rather than quantity….HR wont be able to give his best if he sings for others…..the mass hysteria that he creates now will be gone…..his films as an actor will not run upto expections….let HR enjoy this phase of his career i.e…singer-composer-actor……i think he should come out with his private album within two years or so…..

as far as tere bina is concern..it is good number..with very good music..but certainly not the best..i think taanhaiyaan,tera mera milna and Assalaam Vaalekum was top class..

“Lolz i thnk u wud be d 1st one who didnt enjoy n disappointed wid d gr8 songs of aks n karzzzz…”, if I can better put it then they didn’t meet my expectations, may be I was expecting too much, I was looking for a particular kind of melody that I associate with which I couldn’t find in these albums, which is a minimum threshold level for me to call a song special (barring tanhaiyaan)
Its not an ideal way to explain, but strangely so I would pick an average Rocky or 36 China town album over AKS or Karzzzz because I am so addicted to the song ‘o jaana love you miss you har lamha’ and ‘dil tumhare bina’ that I can consider one of his best works, but this is just an explanation of my basis of my personal preference/pick of an album. But if you go by my music review, then I will rate (have already rated) AKS-The movie and Karzzzz higher than any other albums based on the totality of package.

Yup!! In my song count in windows media player i’v heard Tere Bina 3096 times! Wow! almost 2 years with the releaase of the track n i’v listened to it 3096 times on my pc then, many times on the ipod (Its even on the top 25 tracks lpayed playlist), sometimes in the car n many many times while watching the movie….Yo sum it up…around 4000 times (shocked):x I think i’m proud of myself today..lol;)

HR is the best music director in bollywood period! not pritam or rahman.
just check out all his compositions. they are either very melodious or rocking kick ass modern track which instantly tops the charts!
i also wish HR compose music for other singers like Kunal and Shaan like he used to do before.
I am sad that he chose not to, the end result is music awards winning by other composers and singers!
I hope new love story and kajraree music leads to HR getting awards!

that is what i dont want to see but I read the news in news paper heavy heartedly. and iam the one of the most frequent visitor. how? through the wap in my mob and rarely hit this medium.and that guy ”DIE HARD FAN……. ” his name is as long as his comments and his beautiful thoughts are!
