    Favourites summary

    1. Tanhaiyaan (consider as one of his best works)
    2. Tera mera milna (best quality song in AKS)

No other favourites but if asked to rank further then may be:

    3. Tanhaiyaan unplugged (superb, mindblowing, history)
    4. Jhoot nahi bolna (bindiya chamak ne lagi part 2)
    5. Ya ali (alienish groovy)
    6. Tere bina / Kya jeena (just about fine/ok)
    8. Assalaam vaalekum (ordinary by far, remix great)
    9. Mehbooba (sorry tribute)

Why do I term Kola laka vellari as SPECIAL? Because it has an innovative beat, new deadly instruments/orchestra that kick in at the right time and most importantly it just shows the versatility of himesh reshammiya – the singer. A clear comparison of HR’s range is on display when he sings the same lines ‘tujhe yaad karke, mujhe chain aave, mere jaaniya ve’ first in super lower octave and then in super higher octave. There can’t be a better song to display this versatility and clear cut comparison. That’s how I have analyzed this song and hence rate it very highly.

Actually I am a big fan of all HR songs where he has sung in lower octave e.g. dil naiyo mane re “ek tere siva kuch naiyo jaane re”, ahista ahista “yaadon ki parchaiiyan, TANHAIYAAN”, kola laka vellari “the unplugged part tujhe yaad karke, mujhe chain aave, MERE jaaniya ve”. It is known that HR has very high pitch, but the words in capital letters just denote the lower octave DEPTH. Since HR usually sings in high pitch, this lower octave vocals is his biggest asset and it is up to him how often/frequently to use to his strength.

Every music composer/singer has his hits and misses, but it is no doubt that HR is the best music composer/singer there has ever been. But for a music review of lets say tere bina (or any other song), its not that I woke up suddenly one fine morning, listened to the song with ears closed and gave my review. There must be a reason why I rated any song the way I did. It is after careful analysis and repeat hears. Biased, Never…critically honest, Always…may be a judgmental error, Possible…

it is very difficult to find out the 2nd most popular song of aap kaa surroor well i think that now this time it would be “tanhaiyaaan” bcoz it gives feelings of love & also this song gives meaning of love bcoz when we listen this song we realize that love is every thing no one is complete with out love & also “himesh” has given decent music in this song so i think that it would be “tanhaiyaan”. i will vote for tanhaiyaan.

“plz you all vote for tanhaiyaan”

    thank you

@die hard HR fanatic: I totally agree with you that Himeshji sounds absolutely amazing when he sings in the lower octaves….I love the little “aha” expressions he gives in the “ahista ahista” title track – no other singer adds such touches to their songs which makes Himeshji very unique in his single style! Dil Naiyyo Maane Re is still a mystery to me as to which film it belongs to as it features on both Ahista Ahista and PHir Hera Pheri soundtracks!! I love the composition – the guitar chords are breathtaking……..

  23. karmaon 21 Mar 2009 at 2:24 pm

sukhpreet, the 2 songs, TERE HE LIYE and ARZOO are sung and composed by HR for Sanju and ajay devgan starer movie called MR FRAUD.

IT was composed back in 2006 and film was supposed to release in 2008 but got stuck. recent news is that it’s gonna resume shooting for release this year.

It;s not from HR’s own upcoming films.

  24. Jemon 21 Mar 2009 at 5:40 pm

    @aze: no problem :D

  25. Jemon 21 Mar 2009 at 5:42 pm

@Karma: thanks for the added info :D

  26. Mayankaon 21 Mar 2009 at 7:36 pm

Its got to be Tera Mera MIlna!!

An ace tune crafted by HR, who extensively uses the acoustic guitars from the prelude to the background music, while adding sarangi accompaniments resulting in a touching duet. Tera Mera Milna is further complemented by the soothing interludes and atmospheric running sounds in the background, which makes it one of the best romantic numbers ever composed HR. n i even love the locations in the song….They’re all just too good!!

@Arslan oh man hum sab himeshji ke biggest fans hain

  28. karmaon 22 Mar 2009 at 3:33 pm

HR is the most telanted music director in bollywood and his music is always a million dollar! no one comes before him when it comes to music.

I am waiting eagerly for HR’s Kajrare and New love story music which may come around June.

in addition, I am also waiting for HR’s music in MR FRAUD and Milenge Milenge.

Both are long delayed films one staring Sanju baba and later staring Shahid.

  29. die hard HR fanaticon 22 Mar 2009 at 5:32 pm

@jem, I agree that HR has the finest finishing touch as a singer because he fully understands the listeners pulse. Some accuse him of composing songs that suit his singing style which is completely untrue. He has complete pitch and range, add to that his unique vocals and feel/passion/emotion factor, it makes him the best there ever is. Title track of Ahista Ahista for me easily comes in one of his best works. As for dil naiyo mane re, I would consider it in phir hera pheri as I heard it first there and more so of a bonus added track in ahista ahista. I feel that HR’s lower octave is his biggest weapon in his singing arsenal, and also I would like to urge him to sing more romantic love ballads/duets with alka yagnik (my favorite female singer) as HR has used her ever so frequently before the ABA era.

Yes Jem you are very very right, no wonder you seem to be so sensible. We may have a difference of opinion but you are right that we have to be courteous towards each other at all cost whether we share a same view or not, and yes charity begins at home so if I want my views respected its but obvious I have to respect what they say, so I am not going to react, and definitely this is a fantastic place to know other fans and share a healthy relationship. If you ask me, I already have a decent relationship with (lets me try to remember names) mitram, HR Rulez, deeps, sohail, jeetu, karma etc as in if you notice in lets say last 3-4 threads (tere bina song review etc) they haven’t agreed with me at all my review on tere bina, but we discussed it in a healthy manner and were courteous towards each other, I also agreed that I could be wrong on my review. Yes what I have noticed is that my critical comments irk mayanka and haniya at times (especially suniel shetty was totally a compliment that backfired not to my anticipation),but I will not react :D

What I do understand that because I am always critical (I can’t help myself on that) there are few eyebrows raised at times, but it is the message across what I am interested in most. As for HR, I have had no issues with him all his career “except his policy decision”, but a couple of months ago I expressed myself on that and all fans discussed their viewpoints. So that was my main problem with HR in these 2 years but now that I know that my stance is known to all (even if it makes me a villain) I am still happy, and hence I don’t bring up that policy decision part again. Yes, when posts like missing HR are created then the emotional element makes me say “HR has forgotten his fans who are missing him like hell, isn’t he also accountable to them” so on and so forth, but no more the policy decision talks. Other than that I have no issue with HR. The aim for my critical approach is a constructive feedback or a suggestion from a fan that he could consider as HR himself said “I am constantly trying to improve my work, if I was always told that I am the best then there would be no motivation to become better” and I thought that “HR listens to his fans” if he was reading (or assigned someone else) by chance. What I mean to say is that I regard this site highly and if HR could have his own blog, I would have flooded his suggestion box. Lastly you are doing a good job by providing a genuine service to HR fans. If you ask me, I admit that I am a pest and a bit of a nuisance :D

  39. Jemon 25 Mar 2009 at 1:03 am

@die hard HR fanatic: Many thanks for your compliments, glad to know we are on the same wave length now :D We do appreciate your thoughtful comments here, just as long as they do not attack/offend any other HR fan or HR himself, they are fine with us :D

  40. Mayankaon 25 Mar 2009 at 1:57 pm

@ Die hard HR fanatic: Thanks for understanding all of us here n yes ofcourse, we all fans share a healthy relationship n will continue to maintain it. >:D<

  41. Arslanon 25 Mar 2009 at 2:57 pm

@Surhan: ok dear Surhan. Take care & keep rocking…

  42. die hard HR fanaticon 25 Mar 2009 at 5:27 pm

@ Jem, “glad to know we are on the same wave length now”, well I will truly admit that I will NEVER be on the same wavelength with himesh reshammiya unless he reviews his policy decision and does something for his music fans who are missing and waiting for him like hell. Even as a hard-core fan, I am quite happy to let HR know that I feel this way. As I said earlier, I don’t have any other issue with HR apart from this. Anyways, enough of these talks. Yes, “glad to know we are on the same wave length now” because I have vented out my frustration and my stance is very clearly known and since we have already healthily discussed this before so “I am on the same wavelength on this site”. Also after discussing, I have basically “let it go” in the sense that since it is his DREAM so from my side now he can take all the time in the world to pursue it, if that’s what gives him ultimate happiness and I have no options but to snub my expectations from him as a fan >:D<
