Hello Reshammiyans >:D<

Many of you are aware the music of Himeshji's next film "Radio" released on the 29th August 2009.

We have noticed that many of you have heard the songs and are waiting to discuss them, so feel free to post your own music reviews for Radio here :D

Tell us your favourite songs & why you like them. Try and avoid comparisons with Karzzzz or Aap kaa Surroor as we have to remember the story of Radio is totally different to these 2 films - hence the music is also going to be very different :D

Looking forward to see all your reviews here!

The songs are excellent and is over my expectation. They will reach the top in charts. But HR haven’t give us a rock style song. I thought that it will contain different styles but most is slow , classic, pop, solo, but not any rock one. Anyway there are 3 more albums to come. We don’t know if he has reserve another bang for future. This album is excellent. My favourite song is Teri Meri Dosti. Then Sham Ho Chali, Jaan e mann and Mann Ka Radio.

It’s a very soothing album, with mann ka radio, janeman standing out!!! I expected Zindagi jaise ek radio to be better, as it’s the only fast paced song….HR-shreya combo truly rocks!!! And damadji track was such a pleasant surprise!! i have downloaded all songs, but i will buy the original cd as well!!:)

HR has arrived ! He is back with a bang and that is “Radio”

Kya kahen dear Reshammiyans. I am literally crying with happiness as I am hearing these songs aur kuch post karne ka man hi nahi ho raha hai. Music review karne ki to aukad hi nahi rahi meri. Just I would like to say that this is the best thing I have heard in my life. Kisko favourite bole yar main to chose kar hi nahi paoonga. Bollywoodhungama ne bhi awesome reviews diye hai aur jo HR haters bhi the they have suddenly started loving the songs. Janeman ke to kitne hi log fans ho chuke hai. Just ek bar sunne se hi unka yeh haal hai, just predict what is going to happen in these 3 months. Pls mujhe maaf karna main favourite choose nahi kar pa raha hun. Ab dekh lete hai ARR ko bhi. Blue is having ARR. Aur is baar pata lag jayega class is permanent and that is HR.
Ab har jagah sirf HR hi hoga. Aa dekhen kisme kitna hai dum.

Jai Mata Di HR has rocked !

    MANN KA RADIO

The song begins with a CULT sound…followed by 1 string hit tune…it really sets the tone…

…after that the bazz guitar strings pluck away on different tunes…

…HR takes over in subtle vocals…the mukhda lines are sung in low bazz octave especially BAJNE, DEDE, JEELE…

    …the tune after toota dilLLLLL(prolonged soothing feel) is awesome…kya hua…awesome tune…hogaya…awesome tune…jho huwAAAAAAA (PROLONGED SOOTHING LOW TWIST)…awesome tune…

…from 1.04 to 1.18…the bazz guitar string plucks are great…de de tu jaRAAAAAAAAAH (gentle prolonged voice deepening)…

…from 1.19…the main beats kick in…the beats hit it HARD and SHARP…and the bazz sound is off-da-hook…

    …from 1.29…mann ka radio…NORMAL BAZZ SOUND NOTE…bajne de zara…HIGHER BAZZ SOUND NOTE…gam ko bhul kar…NORMAL BAZZ SOUND NOTE…jeele tuh zaara…HIGHER BAZZ SOUND NOTE…station koi naya…NORMAL BAZZ SOUND NOTE…tune kar le tuh zara…HIGHER BAZZ SOUND NOTE…fulltu attitude…HIGHER BAZZ SOUND NOTE…dede tuh zara…

…tuuta dil…ATTITIONAL BEAT JOINS IN…VERY SHARP…just like hitting an ICE SLAB WITH A HAMMER…this gives amazing effect..

…from 2.02 to 2.05…a wicked BAZZ sound in unplugged mode plays giving sike…

…in lines after this…the NORMAL BAZZ SOUND NOTE and HIGHER BAZZ SOUND NOTE is the key effect…

    …at 2.14…uspe jhoLJAAAAAAAAA (gentle prolonged voice deepening)…

between mukhda and 1st stanza…the mesmerizing tune plays in mann ka radio lines…

    1st stanza…the string bazz sound is great…

    …at 2.35 and 2.40…the tune sur is vital…

    …at 2.39…upar waale pe CHHOD-DE(HIGH 2 NOTES)-EE(LOW 1 NOTE)…great composition…

from 2.42 to 2.50…is typical old styled himesh reshammiya composition…

between 1st and 2nd stanza…the mesmerizing tune is back again…

    2nd stanza…the string bazz sound is great…

    …at 3.23 and 3.28…the tune sur is vital…

…from 3.30 to 3.38…is typical old styled himesh reshammiya composition…

…fron 3.49…the additional SHARP ICE SLAB beat is the key…

…the song finishes in unplugged mode with HR showcasing his so-called new voice…

    Highlights of this song:

    1. The cult sound in the beginning, bazz string guitar unplugged plucks, the SHARP ICE SLAB beats, the NORMAL/HIGHER BAZZ SOUND NOTE.

    2. The underlying beats and mesmerizing tune piece between both stanzas and also in mukhda portion.

    3. The tune sur wherever mentioned.

    4. HR’s vocals.

This is a total safe play in an album with experimentation. It is a very simple yet catchy melody. Smart choice!

    KABHI HAPPY KARDE

Is this your chakna chakna part 2! Not really because chakna was an uptown urban retro number whereas this is one is your small town / pind traditional number. A major factor is due to the instruments and beats. This is a total “mass” number.

The female rap in the beginning is great. Lyrics are peppy and youthful.

    …the twist in ines…zindagi jaise ek radio-OO(DOWN)-OO(DOWN)-OO(DOWN) are inspired by ALLAH KARE-EE(DOWN)-EE(DOWN)-EE(DOWN) at lines…0.22 - 0.23…

…the andaz in which HR says DHUN-A…is great…

…from 1.08…the dhol beats are great and lighten up the song…HR’s vocals are in total sync with them to give a foottapping feel…until 1.28…

…the energetic male vocals on lines SHAAVA…are great…

between the mukhda and 1st stanza…the peppy cunning tune come to da party…note the bazz sound from 1.51 to 1.52…4 hits…

…1st stanza…HR goes the subtle way in MIDDLE OCTAVE along with feel factor…HAAI…Kushti ve…HAAI…masti hai…

…note the bazz sound (4 hits) at 2.03…2.11…2.27…

…the cheeky tune also does its job well…

…from 2.28…the full dhol beats kick in and male vocals crooning HAAI in intervals along with 4 bazz sound…until 2.44…this is the best feelgood part of the song…

…between 1st and 2nd stanza…the cunning tune is back again…it gets unplugged at 3.06…followed by OH CHAK DE and bazz sound…OFF-DA HOOK…

…2nd stanza…HR goes the subtle way in MIDDLE OCTAVE along with feel factor…HAAI…lafra hai…HAAI…taghra ve…

…note the bazz sound (4 hits) at 3.28…3.44…

…the cheeky tune also does its job well…

…from 3.45…the full dhol beats kick in along with 4 bazz sound…until 4.01…this is foottapping stuff…

…from 4.10…the dhol beats join in to give nice effect and HR tries in all manner to convey the message…

…he goes unplugged and full-throated…very much the old-style HR and nice to hear such a number that can be associated with earlier works…

    Highlights of this song:

    1. HR’s energy filled vocals in mukhda and subtle in antaras…the low twist of RADIO-OO-OO-OO and DHUN-A…are the highlight…

    2. The female rapper in the beginning and energy filled male vocals crooning HAAI , SHAVA, OH CHAK DE.

    3. The bazz sound (4 hits) and additional dhol beats.

    JAANEMAN

This is an answer to critics who said that HR’s music is LOUD.

The song begins with feelgood strings.HR croons with subtle vocals. The song is of feelgood nature and the SOFTEST in the whole album.

    …the JAANEMAN line is divided into 3 segments…J(TWIST)AAA…N(TWIST EEE…M(TWIST)AAN…

…the underlying beat is also very laidback and chilled out…it is really a mesmerizing outing…the tempo of song is also slow, ideal for a long-drive…

    …at 1.25…MA(HIGH)AN…is soothing feelgood…

…from 1.34…the soothing feelgood female vocals arrive immensely add on to the subtle value…

    1st stanza…utter soothing vocals…middle octave…

…from 2.11…ROOTHE REH TE HAAI(LOW TWIST)…this is your old styled HR-the composer…and this composition pattern is inspired by the song YEH DIL TOH MILA HAI - DIL NE JISE AAPNA KAHA…at lines……har jaga tujhe deekhe nazar…de diya tujhe JAAN-O-JIGAR…from 4.01…4.09…

    …remaining lines are extremely soothing…

between 1st and 2nd stanza…feelgood strings along with tune sur play…

…2nd stanza…shreya comes to mesmerize the listener…again very innocently cute vocals…sung with immense feel…

…from 3.09…PAL PAL BADHTA HAAI(LOW TWIST)…this is your old styled HR-the composer…and this composition pattern is inspired by the song YEH DIL TOH MILA HAI - DIL NE JISE AAPNA KAHA…at lines…BADLA MIZAAH BEKHABAR HAI MANN(LOW TWIST)…from 2.31

…remaining lines are extremely soothing…including the unplugged part by HR right in the end…

    Highlights of this song…

    1. HR’s utter soothing and soft vocals.

    2. Shreya’s innocently cute melodious vocals.

    3. The subtle string tune along with feelgood slow beats.

    4. The soothing female vocals between mukhda and 1st antara.

Simply put this is a pure gem from himesh reshammiya.Things dont get better in terms of CLASS.

    PIYA JAISE MOTICHUR

Ustad himesh reshammiya is at the helm of affairs. He sings in low bazz octave, more so of middle octave in parts.

This is like AANE DO - THUMRI from KUCH MEETHA HOJAYE. It is meant to be a pure classical raaga number but what gives it commercial element to it is HR’s semi-classical singing style. The fact that HR kept in mind the soundtrax of Kuch meetha hojaye is confirmed when he gets inspird by the theme tune piece.

The shehnayi piece is simply mesmerizing fro start till until 0.48 and sets the mood of the song.

…the tune from 0.52 to 1.05 is similar to the tune used in Kuch meetha ho jaaye from 0.05 to 0.16 in terms of PATTERN…the raaga tune is awesome…

    …PIIII(CLASSICAL TWIST)IIYA…at 1.07…

    …raaga tune accompanying from 1.12…1.20…1.23

    …shehnayi tune accompanying…1.10…1.27…1.30…1.39…

    at 1.20…PHU(TWIST)TE(TWIST)…HAAAAAA(TWIST)

…the tabla beats kick in…they are profound and give the song its semi classical identity…the combination of raaga and shehnayi tunes in between portions is a mesmerizing combination…

…at 2.04…HR arrives with his soothing feel vocals to kill the listener…the tabla beats change to slow DRUM beats…these beats were also used in TERE NAAM - SAD VERSION from 0.54 onwards…

    …at 2.04…OOOOOOO…soothing…

…ek dil hai magar (STRAIGHT SINGING WITHOUT ANY TWISTS IS THE KEY)…kY(LOW TWIST)UUUN…at 2.07…

…rakhta hai gum yeh kahin…chahe bevajah (STRAIGHT SINGING WITHOUT ANY TWISTS IS THE KEY)…mAG(LOW TWIST)AAR…at 2.13…

…tadapta hai yeh har ghadi…2.19…HAAN (HIGH NOTE) yeh kambakht maan ta hi nahi…(STRAIGHT SINGING WITHOUT ANY TWISTS IS THE KEY)…this is what gives the commercial element…

    …from 2.19 to 2.22…OOOOOOOO…PROLONGED CLASSICAL TWIST…

    …at 2.34…manwa ma phute HAAA…good feel effect…

between mukhda and 1st stanza…kuch meetha hojaye raaga tune accompanied by tere naam sad - slow drum beats…

    …1st stanza…tabla makes its impact…and raaga tune plays intermittently…

    …at 3.03…CHINGAR(SLOW TWIST VOICE DEEPENING WITH FEEL)…

    at 3.08…3.23…PEEEE(quick classical twist)…

    …3.10…HOOO(UP)OOO(DOWN)OOO(UP)…SOOTH FEEL…

…the way HR takes over from classical female vocals to sing straight is the key and highlight in this song…

…at 3.27…KYUN(LOW TWIST)…at 3.34…MAGAAR(LOW TWIST)…rest lines are straight singing…the fast SHEHNAYI tune and slow drum beats are key…

    …3.40 to 3.42…OOOOOOOO…PROLONGED CLASSICAL TWIST…

between 1st and 2nd stanza…kuch meetha hojaye raaga tune accompanied by tere naam sad - slow drum beats…

    2nd stanza…tabla makes its impact…

    …from 4.21…4.34…toh laga hai HAI(CLASSICAL TWIST)YEH mujhKO(GRADUAL UP VOICE RISE WITH FEEL)…keh zindagIIIIII(PROLONGED UP DOWN CLASSICAL TWIST)…BEE(QUICK CLASSICAL TWIST)wajah…at 4.32…4.42…HAA(UP)-AAA(DOWN)-AAA(UP)…SOOTHING TWIST…

…HR…same pattern as in 1st stanza…shehnayi and also note the bazz sur tune…

    …the unplugged version showcases rehka’s singing prowress…at 5.26…LADOOUUUUOOO…SOOTHING FEEL TWIST…

    Highlights of this song:

    1. Shehnayi, raaga (along with bazz raaga sur behind HR’s vocals) and classical tabla beat pattern.

    2. Kuch meetha hojaye theme tune and tere naam sad - slow drum beats.

    3. Rekha’s pure classical vocals.

    4. HR’s subtle and soothing straight vocals along with some finishing twists to add commercial element and make it a semi-classical number.

This is a master piece composed by HR keeping in mind the taste of older age population segment.

himesh reshammiya proves with this song that his sound core fundamental basics can never be questioned by anyone and that is the BAAP of all ustads out there.Talk about versatility!

from 1.21…the suble tabla beats kick in…along with lovely tune piece…until 1.30

from 1.31 to 1.35…the LEGENDARY INSTRUMENT TUNE plays again clearly for the listeners to appreciate its greatness…ufffffffffff

This INSTRUMENT TUNE plays faintly in the background of both stanzas…

…1st stanza…full of feel and subtle vocals…it is MIDDLE OCTAVE…

…the bazz trumpet tune sur from 1.39 to 1.42…1.46 to 1.48…1.53 to 1.55…2.00 to 2.02…

…between 1st and 2nd stanza…the classical tabla beats along with raaga instrument return to mesmerize the listener…

from 2.54 to 2.58…the LEGENDARY INSTRUMENT TUNE plays again clearly

    …shreya sings in high pitch…

    …at 3.04…umeedEEEEEN(VOICE DEEPENING)…

    …the tune sur at 3.04 to 3.06 and from 3.11 to 3.13…3.18 to 3.20…

    …HR takes over…

    …at 3.29…koi NAAAAAAA(ZABARDAST TWIST)…HISTORY…

    …from 4.12…CHAH(TWIST)YEEEEAA(PROLONGED DELIBERATE VOICE SHAKE)…UTTER SOOTHING FEEL…

HR’s voice is on display in the unplugged part and it simply speakes volumes for itself.

    Highlights of this song:

    1. The instrument tune is HISTORY, it hits 6 times in sets of 2 hits…the last 2 hits are terrific

    2. The voice deepening, sudden high note and twists-n-turns wherever mentioned above

    3. The raaga tune and classical tabla in between stanzas.

    4. The tune sur in stanzas.

The key in this song is the finishing twists, voice deepening and history instrument tune (6 times in sets of 2 hits)

Listen to AARZOO AARZOO - Mr.Fraud at lines…2.12…dil ka chaiNNNNN(LOW TWIST)…2.14…dil ke paaSSSS(LOW TWIST)…The PITCH/SUR and TEMPO of the songs are obviously different but the PATTERN of the twist is the SAME…i.e. at 1.12 of this song…aawargi YEEEAAAA(LOW TWIST)…

    2. Shreya’s innocently cute melodious vocals.

    3. Violin tune, chimes, metal guitar and 1 hit beat behind words mujhe, safar.

    4. Tune sur in stanzas.

    5. The ADDITIONAL STRIKING WHEEZ in the last line kaHAAN (unplugged)…HISTORY vocals.

HR - The Singer…TAKE A BOW…his best parts are…tera yakeen le chala mujhe (1st starza), jaye yahaan se mera safar(2nd stanza)…and unplugged KAHAAN.

    DAMAADJI

The song starts with old-style dhol/drum beats and the harmonium joins in later along with a raaga instrument…

…the dhol beat is great from 0.39 onwards…along with string based classical instrument…

    …from 0.49…Kailash croons his part…in typical traditional style…the tradinional beats from 1.10 confirm this…

…the damadJ(HIGH NOTE)IIIII(TWIST) at 1.20 is nice…the whole part of kailesh kher is feelgood melody…

…from 1.49…the classical tabla plays followed by a HISTORY raaga tune at 1.50 to 1.53…

the LOWER OCTAVE POWER of HR’s vocals is on display…with the LOW note KAbhi at 1.52…2.00…soch(high)TA hoon…good melody…followed by vaada tenu styled harmonium…

the 1 beat ghoongru/payal beat along with great tabla beat pattern

    …at 2.05…kya mazaak HAI-UN (TYPICAL USTAD STYLE)…awesome

…from 2.07…TUM (HIGH NOTE) NE (LOWER)…very innocently sweet attempt by HR…kaane KAISA (UTTER FEEL)…the raaga tune used to good effect…

…until this point things take a chill-pill and subtle note…I can identify and associate with (banaras styled) HR’voice…

…but there is sudden adrenaline rush in a new HR voice…it is high-pitched singing…

    from 2.16…KAHE TOSE NAI(HIGH NOTE)NA LADAYEEEE(TWIST) REEEEEEE(TWIST)-EEEEEEE(QUICK SHAKE/SHIVER OF VOICE)…

KAHE TOSE NAI(HIGH NOTE)NA LADAYEEEE(TWIST) REEEEEEE(TWIST)-EEEEEEE(QUICK SHAKE/SHIVER OF VOICE)…THIS IS THE GRANDFATHER OF ALL TWISTS TILL DATE…WHOA…I dont know what has hit me but this shakes me up completely literally…HISTORY…uffffffffffffffffffffff…

…as far as the voice…there is an aditional WHEEZ…this was also there in unplugged end part in TERE MERI DOSTI KA…I am wondering whether this part was computerized or the wheez is his part of his new voice…

…things take a chill pill again from 2.30…with ULJHE (SOOTH)…mere din raat HAAAAAAAI(SOOTH PROLONGED VOICE)…

…kailash kher is back with his croons who indicate the home coming of the person who asks bhaiya viman yeh phasebook kya hota hai…is he damadji!

…the traditional beat is the key…the tune from 2.58…is totally RAJASTHANI tune of banjara/desert setting…it is great…

    …1st stanza…himesh sings in banaras styled vocals…

    …at 3.14…HAAAI(SOOTHING TWIST)…FAASLEYAAAAN(SOOTHING TWIST)…nazdeekiyaan khushe see…innocently soothing…socha nahi tha kisi kashmakash ka rishta jude ga tumhi se…things are chill-pill until here…

…sudden rush of adrenaline in high pitched vocals…naina LADAYEEEEEEEE (SKAKE/SHIVER) IS THE KEY…

between 1st and 2nd stanza…more rajastani folk tune and drum beats along with harmonium…

    2nd stanza…

…again very soothing feel…banaras (kitna pyar karte hain) styled singing…raaga tune gives good effect…

    …RAAZ (SOOTHING FEEL)…emphasis…

…sudden rush of adrenaline in high pitched vocals…naina LADAYEEEEEEEE (SHAKE/SHIVER) IS THE KEY…

    …kailash kher does his thing…

…from 5.27…HR sings along with the traditional beats…KA(LOWER OCTAVE bhi…TUM NE (INNOCENTLY SWEET)…ULJHE (SOOTH FEEL)…

    …from 5.56 to 6.01…the dhol beats are great…

    …from 6.02…this is kaliash kher’s best part…background dhol beats give great effect…LATH(TWIST)AAAAAA…JEEEEE(TWIST)…

    Highlights of this song:

    1. KAAHE TOHSE NAINA LAAGAYE (ADDITIONAL STRIKING WHEEZ) REEEEEE * 2 (SHAKE/SHIVER) is the highlight of the song.

    2. HR’s mixture of middle-to-lower octave innocent subtle vocals and sudden high-pitch vocals…HR is a master of such.

    3. Kailesh’s feelgood traditional folk styled singing tailor made for this song, couldn’t be a better choice!

    4. Unplugged dhol beat, harmonium, raaga tune and rajasthani tune, and underlying traditional folk beat.

HR-KAILASH COMBO RWAKS just like they RWAKED in UUD UUD JAAYE which is the BEST SONG of VAADA.

    TERE MANN SE

This composition just went over my head the first time. It is a NEVER BEFORE HEARD attempt from himesh reshammiya.

This song actually SHOWCASES his DEFINITE LOWER BAZZ OCTAVE.

The beats are rather strange but they come to the party latter on.

the tune from 0.25…I associate in oldern Asha Boshle kind of songs. The string instrument does a good job.

    …JAANA…KA…

from 0.53…the keyboard fick from lower notes to higher notes is great…HR sings in middle octave from here on…

…from 1.07…the female vocals accomopanying HR give a great effect and by now the underlying beat makes sense…

…HR sings in EK HASEENA THI (STANZAS) - Karzzz…stanzas style…

between the mukhda and 1st stanza…the string beats are very effective and the gradual rise of the keyboard tune is awesome…from low notes to high notes and back to low notes…

    stanza…middle octave…

    …HAI-AI(UP 2 NOTES)-AI(UP 2 NOTES)-AI(UP 2 NOTES)…KHUSHI-II(NORMAL)-II(DOWN)-II(NORMAL)…HI-II(UP 2 NOTES)-II(UP 2 NOTES)-II(UP 2 NOTES)…
    BHI-II(NORMAL)-II(DOWN)-II(NORMAL)…great composition pattern…

…HR once again sings the mukhda in lower octave along with accompanying female vocals

    Highlights of this song:

    1. Showcase of HR’s low bazz octave.

    2. Female vocals.

    3. Gradual rise and flicks of kayboard tunes.

    4. The underlying beat albiet to an extent.

In times whereby HR is accused of repetition, such a new attempt is welcome anyday anytime.

    SYNOPSIS

There is no doubt that when himesh reshammaiya composed music for Radio he kept the soundtrax of Banaras (singing style) and Kucch meetha ho jaaye (comosition) in mind.

Himesh was badly deterred from experimenting after the fate of these albums but there wasn’t to be a hattrick and kudos to HR for this attempt. However, the sensibilities of HR the composer are great as he played absolutely safe for his first 2 songs Mann ka radio and Kabhi happy karde as both these are mass numbers. The experimention of class started after these 2 songs with HISTORY results.

    10/10 because of the following:

    1. Guts to experiment and create a new sound.

    2. Album exceeds expectations.

    My picks.

    1. Teri meri dosti.
    2. Sham ho chuki hai.
    3. Koi na koi.
    4. Piya jaise laadu.
    5. Damadji.
    6. Mann Ka Radio.
    7. Jaane man.
    8. Tere mere.
    9. Kabhi Happy.

In terms of HR’s new voice the most is in teri meri dosti, sham ho chuki and damadji.

i think radio will be released sooner than dec 11 as first announced and I am sure KAJRAREE won’t come on oct.

I know for a fact that RADIO is next first release and not kajraree.

that is what TSERIES told me. I think radio movie will come in month and half.

I was the first to say RADIO music will come in august and I got it right.

A much sober and subdued Himesh is heard in “Mann Ka Radio”, the opening track of the film. In the first listening, all one ends up focusing is on lyrics that go as ‘Mann Ka Radio’. Frankly, it’s hard to digest. However, as one gives the number a few repeat hearing, it’s the music and the singing (in Himesh’s new voice) that takes centre stage. What further impresses is the overall soft mood of the song that does the trick. Once the song reaches it’s ‘antra’ portion, one gets to hear a little of Himesh in his vintage style as well. The ‘remix version’ only elevates the song further as it heads straight for the club.

It’s a Western bhangra fusion feel that “Zindagi Jaise Ek Radio” carries. Based on the folk flavor of Punjab and carrying a similarity feel to it, “Zindagi Jaise Ek Radio” is high on rhythm with the ‘dhol’ beats ensuring that the ‘bhangra’ mood is set right away. Himesh gets into his full throated rendition with this number (which also appears in a ‘remix version’) that does come with a sense of deja vu but one doesn’t mind that due to it’s foot tapping ability.

The real album begins though from this stage on as there are six straight songs that bring that side of Himesh that hasn’t been heard in the present times. It’s the sound of guitar strings which begin”Jaaneman”, a soothing number that is sung in almost an unplugged manner. A brilliant track that announces loud and clear the melodic mood that the album develops from here on, “Jaaneman” has minimal instruments in the background with Himesh holding centre-stage. His voice too sounds all smooth-n-silky which makes “Jaaneman” an ideal number for a candle light dinner. Shreya Ghoshal joins Himesh in this romantic outing and makes sure that “Jaaneman” turns out to be one of the best songs to have arrived this year.

Looking at the lyrics of “Piya Jaise Ladoo Motichur Wale”, one would have imagined this to be a celebration number. However, there is a pleasant surprise in store as it turns out to be a semi-classical track which has Rekha Bhardwaj beginning the proceedings. A love song which again has just Rekha’s voice on the forefront with emphasis on the quality of rendition rather than any musical instruments bringing on the beats, ‘Piya Jaise…’ too demonstrates Himesh’s stranglehold over classical music.

In fact Himesh even curbs himself as a singer and only brings him on the scene a couple of times while allowing Rekha to hold centre-stage. Yet another excellent track which only makes one start expecting a lot more from Radio. In fact “Piya Jaise…” would be the last to warrant a ‘remix version’ but Himesh Reshammiya and Akbar Sami make it happen and present it in a format that would make an entry into the lounges and clubs.

Feeling of some pure and unsaid love continues with “Koi Na Koi Chahe” and by this time one gets to know that all the beats and the musical instruments were reserved for the ‘bhangra’ number in the start - “Zindagi Jaise Ek Radio”. That’s because from that point on, none of the songs had focus on anything other than the vocals, something that shows in “Koi Na Koi Chahe”. A ‘raaga’ based love song, this Himesh Reshammiya and Shreya Ghoshal track goes perfectly well with the mood that has been set in ‘Radio’ so far.

The sound of piano marks the beginning of “Teri Meri Dosti Ka Asmaan” and one knows there and then that Himesh has indeed set his heart in for creating the soundtrack of ‘Radio’. If one liked the music of his last brilliant album ‘Ahista Ahista’ then one is bound to grab ‘Radio’ too with both hands, courtesy a song like this which continues the unadulterated feel of the album. Subrat Sinha too spins some interesting lyrics for this number that has Shreyal Ghoshal getting that little girl act well with Himesh giving her company in a full throated rendition.

It isn’t every day that another male singer makes an appearance in a Himesh Reshammiya album; let aside sharing the stage with him. Well, impossible happens in case of “Damadji Angana Hai Padhare” where Kailash Kher gets this opportunity. A number that has a folk base to it, “Damadji…” has Kailash beginning the proceedings. However, two minutes into the song and Himesh enters the scene while bringing a different pitch and momentum. Yet another number that is attached to the roots and stays Indian throughout, it should make for a good situational outing.

It’s back to a romantic duet with Himesh and Shreya coming together for “Shaam Ho Chali Hai”. After “Janeman”, this is the love song that impresses most and deserves to be promoted to the hilt. With a touch of wait and sadness to it, this one too carries a certain ‘pure’ feel to it and stays unconcerned about any commercial trappings. Carrying the kind of sound (that does remind of “In Dino Dil Mera” - Life In A Metro) that is bound to work well with the youth of today who are looking at hearing something different from the usual club outings that are being presented in many a album in recent past, “Shaam Ho Chali Hai” deserves a repeat hearing.

Before the album concludes, Himesh presents himself a solo in the form of “Rafa Dafa Kiya Nahi Nahin Jaaye”. A number about moving on in life, this one is a good attempt by Subrat Sinha as he pens something different from the ‘dard-e-tanhai’ genre that has been beaten to death. A slow moving track that is primarily for situational appeal, it doesn’t harm the overall flow of ‘Radio’ which ultimately turns out to be much more than just a satisfying album.

AS i earlier said , its a complete new and different himesh in RADIO from any angle. I loved all the songs. Album is widely appreciated by critics also. Fans to appreciate karenge hi. I am really happy that RADIO’s music is getting over whelming response , no doubt himeshji’s hardwork and RADIO’s music deserve such kind of response even it deserve more.
I loved all tracks in radio. in fact i was shocked to hear himeshji in radio. Its beyond my expectations. I am over whelmed!!!. i never expected himeshji in such picture. MINNNDDDD BBLLLLOOOWIINGG….!!! Now talking abt the music ,all tracks are my favuorite but shamm ho chuli, janemaan, koi naa koi chahe, zindgi jese ek radio are extraordinary good. And how can we forgett ‘Mann kaa Radio’ which is the opening track of this album. Really very happy. I think its the best music till date composed by himesh reshammiya, NO DOUBT. Music has a kind that will attract now class audience also along with masses. I bet its going to rock charts like JTYJN. Its very smooth, soft and refreshing album i have ever heard by imesh reshammiya. One thing i want to share when first time i heard the song SHAAM HOO CHALI HAI i could not stop my self from crying . This song always makes me cry whenever i listen. Himeshji has given some kind of very sad romantic feel to this song. Its heart touching and I was speechless when i heard this album i reflected,” is it really himeshji?”
HIMESHJI I SALUTE YOU, YOU ROCKS…….!!!!

review of HR’s songs is something next to impossible for me…..i can never judge his songs critically……cause its like i love them all….but yeah there are some songs which i love more…..its something i cant do n also dnt find myself eligible enough to do so…..the songs of radio though are just amazing….infact even more than that….in this album HR surely shows everyone that nothings impossible for him….he’s the trendsetter n continues to be with this album…..he according to me is the only music composer who’s music has constantly been changing with time for good….others follow afterwards…..my favourites from the album are:-

    janeman….wat a track man…..it just brings the feelings out….

    koi na koi chahe…..gr8 composition….

    shaam ho chali hai…..speechless

    mann ka radio….cool song

other tracks are also very good….they depict the gr8 hold that HR has of classical n todays music…..

the biggest thing in the favour of this album are that not only we the HR fans are blown away by these songs but also those who have not been HR fans….n thats wat will help this album to become more popular…..i feel during karzzzz the songs were very gud but not everyone had heard them….n im saying this from my own experience that after some frndz of mine who are not HR fans as such heard songs of karzzzz they said that they had never listened to these songs completely n said they were quite nice…..so i dnt want this to happen with radio…..
but i do miss a ‘lut jaaon’ kind of track in this album….but never mind these songs are too good…..
in total this album is superb, fantastic, outstanding, mindblowing n history…..

gr8 job Himesh sir…..keep it up…we all are with you….

This albun is fabulous but i am missing HR typical song with his high pitch in his rock style with his catchy beats. But i’m not regretting because 100 % there will be one in his Kajraare for i have already heard it 17 seconds. The songs saying is : Dil jab tudse lagya re.

Himesh Reshammiya is back with a bang..he is back after 9months..and he surprises the listners and critics with the most romantic album of the year so far..the album starts off with two title song..then it is the vintage himesh reshammiya at his best..he used all kinds of traditional indian music in the album..from semi classical to rajasthani folk he uses all kind of songs..’jaaneman’ and ’shaam ho chuki’ is the peak of the album..and ‘koi na koi chahe’ ‘teri meri dosti ka asman’ rafa diya kiya nehi jaye’ ‘piya jaise ladoo’ ‘damadji’ and ‘rafa dafa’ adds flavour to it..he even win the critics this time for sure..waiting to see the picturising of the songs..let see can he surprise one more time..
