Himeshji: Interview!
With Radio, Himesh Reshammiya after having carved a niche for himself as a music composer and singer, has attempted to prove himself as an actor as well. In an interview, the crooning star tells he now looking forward to future projects.
Radio is different from your earlier films…
Radio was a more urbane attempt from me as compared to my previous two films. The film was made for a target audience. It was youthful and more for the multiplex going crowd.
The film made profits even before its release…
When you make a film you always have to consider the economics behind it. A lot of money was invested on Radio and I was relieved that the film could break even with its cost even before its release.
Which are your films post Radio?
I have three lined up — Pooja Bhatt’s Kajraare, John Matthew Mathan’s New Love Ishtory and Swapna Joshi’s Ishk Unplugged. Pooja is presenting me like never before in Kajraare. The film has been shot in the beautiful locales of Jordan, Dubai and Petra – the 8th Wonder of the World. This is the first time that a mainstream Hindi film has been shot there. Bhatt sahab has written a stupendous script for the film while the music of Kajraare is simply superb. I have all my hopes up for this film.
Besides being seen in films next year, you will also be seen in a mega music reality show…
Yes, I have a musical reality show coming up. My past experiences with reality TV have been great with all my shows being huge successes. This show has been set on a huge scale and I am really looking forward to it.

@usama: IST = Indian Standard Time. He will be online at 3pm India time! I hope that helps you work it out for Pakistan time…Im not sure about the difference there! Jem
I dont know why Radio isnt doing well, its such a nice movie, like atleast it doesnt show bullshit screenplay.. like other movies do.. Watever, now i can actually say bollywood watchers are acutally bunch of idiots!!!!

Mumbai, Dec 10 (IANS) Himesh Reshammiya is all smiles. His film “Radio” has fetched him some good reviews as an actor, something he has been longing for. The singer-composer-actor says he was confident of his growth as a performer and winning people’s hearts.
“I had always maintained that in each of my subsequent films, there would be a growth as an actor. I knew in my heart that I would be able to win over that miniscule percentage of critics and audiences who were in doubt whether Himesh was serious about his acting career. Now, when ‘Radio’ is fetching me acceptance as an actor, I can confidently say that it is a new beginning for me as a performer,” Himesh told IANS in an interview.
“Radio” may not boast of multi crore collections from across the country but Himesh and the makers of the film are undeterred.
“For us, the most important point was to make the film for a niche audience and release it selectively. The profits were always there due to the entire money being recovered from non-theatrical rights. This is why the additional numbers coming in from box office are satisfactory,” Himesh said.
Said a trade insider: “The entire cost of ‘Radio’ has been recovered from music, satellite rights and video rights. All theatrical collections would be a profit.”
For “Radio”, Himesh had even done away with his trademark cap and got rid of his nasal twang. The movie also stars Sonal Sehgal and Shehnaz Treasurywala.
For Himesh personally, it’s his rise as an actor from his debut film “Aap Ka Suroor” in 2007 that he’s feeling good about.
“With ‘Radio’ I was looking at getting into a space different from that of ‘Aap Kaa Suroor’ and ‘Karzzzz’. It was an intentional and well-thought out step since I wanted to work in an experimental set-up and prove myself as an actor.
“My director Ishaan Trivedi, who really helped me by arranging acting workshops for me, did tell me during the making of ‘Radio’ that there was an added spark to my act. But honestly, even I was pleasantly surprised when there was so much of appreciation from a number of respected critics,” he added.
Though the film by itself has seen mixed reviews coming it’s way, Himesh’s act finds special mention. While his casual look and persona have been highlighted, his emotional bent has been evidenced too. He is now all excited to move on to his next film “Kajraare”.
“The promotion for ‘Kajraare’ is round the corner. From a core multiplex film like ‘Radio’, I am moving on to an out-and-out commercial outing like ‘Kajraare’. It would be great to enter into a different space now,” Himesh concluded.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, written by Mahesh Bhatt and directed by Pooja Bhatt, ‘Kajraare’ would be seeing an early 2010 release.(thaindian.com)

I am happy that himesh proved himself as an actor. Now himesh should comeback as a singer and composer. Simply because himesh may never get good script and directors which is most imporatant. SRK and Amitabh are superstars only because of good directors and good scripts. Also the lukewarm response to radio shows that people want himesh as music composer and actor.
By becoming music diirector and actor himesh can win all his fans back and also his critics. He will get self repect and lot of appreciation from everyone.
Otherwise if fims does not work people will make mokery of him and he may end up loosing his fans. I don’t want that to happen so please himesh comeback as music director & actor.
Himeshji people who hate you are just looking for oppurtunity to destry you and by becoming an actor you have given golden oppurtunity to them which they are using to wipe you out of film industry. They are spreding baseless rumors and when your musical show will start they will be targeting you and projecting you as villion of the show. Everytime I have been given you warnings and everytime you and your fans have ignored my warning as a result today your haters are getting sucessful in every atempts.
Himesh just you are a good actor but there are many reason because of which a movie work and currently all those factors are against you.
Once you retun as composer I am sure you will win hearts with your music and those who hate your voice may love you composition and will stop targetting you.

(I do not wish to disclose the name of my area for personal reasons.) So I will be reviewing the film unfortunately when it releases on DVD

RADIO may’ve recovered its investment [that's what its makers are claiming], but the theatrical business is disappointing. Check out the business in various circuits and you’d know where it stands. Even if you go by the producer’s statement of recovering the investment and making profits, RADIO doesn’t qualify as a Hit film.
To cite an example, Karan Johar may’ve made profits on KURBAAN by selling it to UTV for a handsome price, but has UTV also made money on its investment? It may be a Hit for the producer, but what about the distributors?
RADIO hasn’t lived up the expectations and that’s a fact!

HR will continue to do films till he is confident of it…..any criticism will not affect him….once his confidence goes he will come back for music direction…seeing his reviews as an actor..we will see more of his films coming our way……..

yes right, HR said in bollywood hungama chat last night that KAJRAREE is to be released in April and music is planned in FEB.
The reason I think is there are not many megabudget or low budget film that month.
I have already said here 3 days ago that KAJRAAre won’t come before March while you guys keep saying it will come in FEB.

official site of HR is not too active like tweeter or myspace, it just has photos, new ones and his upcoming films and has his assitant’s information.
I saw never before seen photos of RADIO film few months ago but did not mention the site due to fear of being removed.
I just wish HR writes blogs on the site and be active!

i have never shared non genuine info here, i have shared best and real info about HR who has not done it, i was the first one to announce radio release in july when all of u were saying kajraree will come next after karzzzz. i announced the music release date of RADIO back in early july and much more!

Hey guys, I have just say Radio. The main reason for the film not to do well is the editing of the film and the story development. HR has improved a lot.
