Hello Reshammiyans!

I hope that you are all well and are enjoying Himeshji’s awesome music from the album ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’. We have our first interview of 2016: cast your minds back a few years to Himeshji’s albums of ‘DamaDamm’ and ‘Bodyguard’ and I am sure you will all remember the voice of singer Alamgir Khan. He debuted with the Punjabi Hip-Hop version of ‘Desi Beats’ before joining a montage of singers including Himeshji, on the DamaDamm title track. We recently caught up with Alam, and he shared with us his experience of recording these two tracks, as well as his current projects. Read on to find out more.

Interview Questions:

1) Please tell us about your background, and how you decided to become a singer.

I started my singing career at the age of 14 years old, when my father Sri. Murli Khan G gifted me Harmonium. He is my inspiration in my singing career. So many experienced singers are from the Patiala Gharana.

2) How has your journey as a singer within the Bollywood music industry, been so far?

When I jumped into the Bollywood industry, within a month I got a brilliant chance to work with Himesh Reshammiya ji. I got a chance to sing in a movie called ‘Bodyguard’ I got this opportunity thanks to Himesh Reshammiya ji. I am very thankful to him, because if he did not give me a chance, then I wouldn’t have got this passion to sing in the Bollywood music industry. He is like my brother and I respect him a lot.

3) You first sang the Punjabi Hip-Hop version of Desi Beats (Bodyguard) for Himesh (it is my favorite version of the song!) Please share with us your experience of recording the song.

It is also my favourite version of the song. This chance was given to me by Himesh Reshammiya ji.This is my first song in Bollywood Music Industry. He is a very talented music Director. He has always helped me out whenever I am in trouble. He is like my elder brother. Even I have good comfort level in singing with Himeshji, rather than with other Music directors.

4) You then sang in the DamaDamm title track and appeared in its music video. How was this experience?
