Published by at 10:46 am under Exclusive Interviews

Hello Reshammiyans!

It gives me great pleasure in presenting our first interview of the year, with the very talented and popular DJ/Music producer Kiran Kamath!

If you are a fan of Himeshji’s remixes and mashups, you will have noticed Kiran’s name amongst many of them – his most recent work with Himeshji is the super hit album Aap Se Mausiiquii.

I was fortunate enough to have a catch up with Kiran, learn about his experiences of working with Himeshji and creating the remixes. Kiran is currently a jury member on the sixth and most popular children’s reality show SaReGaMaPa Lil Champs! Read on to find out more and as always, and if you enjoyed reading the interview, do leave a comment!

Please share with us your journey til now, in the world of Bollywood Music.

Its been a fantastic journey so far. Coming from a non musical background & Having started off from scratch and coming till this far feels great. But the journey is not over yet. Lots to experience.

I believe that we first heard your remix for Himeshji on the Dangerous Ishhq soundtrack in 2011. The RnB hip hop mix of Tu Hi Rab Tu Hi Dua, is my personal favourite! Can you share your experiences from working on this soundtrack with Himeshji?

I actually did my first remix for Himeshji in the year 2007 which was Tadap from the movie “Darling”. But the remix of Tu hi rab tu hi dua from “dangerous ishq” in 2011 was the beginning of my association with Himeshji. From there onwards there has been no looking back. Its always a great experience working with Himeshji.
Every new project is a challenge for me to do something different. He’s very open to trying out new styles in his music which is great.

After this, you helped create the Mashup phenomenon. How did this idea come about, and do you think mashups are still popular even today?

Bollywood mashups emerged during the end of 2011 when the “Zero Hour Mashup” released on indias leading record label “T-Series”. Shivam Chanana one of my closest buddies from T-Series played me an international mashup of all the western numbers and asked me if we could do the same with bollywood songs from their catalog. And I was like “Hell Yeah”.. and thats how it all began. I have done over 50 official mashups till date. Yes Mashups are still very popular… and if executed properly they are sure shot winners!

You are 1 of 4 top DJs who collaborated with Himeshji on his second highly awaited private album Aap Se Mausiiquii. Please share with us your experiences of working on the album, and also your personal favourite songs from it.

The album of Aap Se Mausiiquii is another fantastic album composed by Himeshji. All songs are very different from one another & very soulful. My fav songs from the album are Aap se mausiiquii, Every night and day, o soniye & Arziyan

Were any of the songs particularly tough to remix?

Aap se mausiiquii was the most difficult one to crack.

Which is your favourite remix from the Aap Se Mausiiquii album?

Aap se Mausiiquii reprise, Every night and day, o soniye, Teri Arziyan

What is your preferred genre of music to listen to?

I listen to almost all genres of music.

Please share your experience of working with Himeshji & HR Musik.

Himeshji is always in high spirits and having a very positive vibe. Its been an awesome experience working with Himeshji & HR Musik. Looking forward to doing lot more work in the future

Which song of Himeshji’s do you wish you had remixed?

Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (Tum Saanson Main)

You are one of the 30 jury members on the sixth series of SaReGaMaPa Lil Champs. Please share with us your experience of working on the show, and also seeing Himeshji as a judge on the show.

The experience being a jury on the show has been phenomenal. Theres a great exposure on television & media on being a part of this show. Himeshji is not only full of energy but a great mentor too always spreading positive vibes.

Your thoughts on the independent Music scene e.g. non filmi music. Do you think it can make a comeback?

Yes definitely. Independent music has already started making a huge comeback thru means of social media such as youtube. Its an open ground for everyone now to express their talents.

Please share with us details of your forthcoming projects.

Have a couple of mashups ready for release.
