Song of the Week (5): Pyar Le Pyar De ~ Genius

Published by under Song of the Week

Pyar Le Pyar De…Pyar De Pyar Le…

Hello Reshammiyans,

We are down to the final song of the week from the Genius soundtrack which is the club track Pyar Le Pyar De.

Thanks to all of you who voted each week for your favourite song from the Genius soundtrack.

Pyar Le Pyar De – Genius

Background of the Song

The song Pyar Le Pyar De reminds me of the days where Himeshji gave us some epic club tracks. This one is certainly classy and has been sung by singers Iulia Vantur and Dev Negi. While it maybe controversial for some to call Iulia a singer, she has done a surprisingly good job on this track. Dev compliments her well on the vocals and they both make a strong impact on the overall sound of the song. I am a little bit disappointed with the picturisation/ of the song, as I feel it deserved more.

We look forward to hearing the next soundtrack from Himeshji.

Song of the Week (4): Tujhse Kahan Juda Hoon Main ~ Genius

Published by under Song of the Week

Hello Reshammiyans!

Thanks to all of you who voted in all the polls for Song of the Week for the Genius soundtrack. We have now reached the last poll of the album which featured the two remaining songs Tujhse Kahan Juda Hoon Main and Pyar Le Pyar De and the former song is the clear winner this week. We will discuss Pyar Le Pyar De next week.

Tujhse Kahan Juda Hoon Main – Genius

Background of the Song

Tujhse Kahan Juda Hoon Main is a composition from Himeshji that we have all been waiting to hear for a very long time. Even though Himeshji only sings the chorus lines of the song, his presence is felt throughout. The song has some wonderfully dreamy music sequences which only Himeshji can create (piano interludes and electric guitar rifts) Neeti is truly amazing singing the lower notes of the song and Vineet compliments her very well. I do feel, however, that it is Himeshji who carries the entire composition as the power in his voice lifts the song to a entirely new level.

Song of the Week (3): Tera Fitoor ~ Genius

Published by under Song of the Week

…Ishq Jo Zara Sa Tha Woh Badh Gaya Re…Tera Fitoor…Jab Se Chadh Gaya Re…

Hello Reshammiyans!

Thanks to all Reshammiyans who have been consistently voting in our Song of the Week polls for the Genius soundtrack. Finally, this week’s winning song is the one that started the hype for the enite soundtrack, the uber melodious Tera Fitoor.

Background of the Song

Bollywood music lovers had been patiently waiting for another collaboration between popular singer Arijit Singh and our Rockstar Himeshji. Arijit ended up performing the song during a concert of his, and then, as they say, the rest is history! Tera Fitoor created an unprecedented hype for the soundtrack and it continues even after its release. Himeshji’s imitable melodious, romantic phrasing, is what dominates the song and coupled with Arijit’s velvet vocals, makes it a dream to listen to.

If you enjoyed this week’s Song of the Week, do share why in the comments below.

Song of the Week 2: Dil Meri Na Sune ~ Genius

Published by under Song of the Week

Dil Meri Na Sune…Dil Ki Main Na Sunu…

Hello Reshammiyans,

Thanks to all of you who voted for the second Song of the Week from the Genius soundtrack. I honestly expected it to be Tera Fitoor this week (where are the Arijit Singh fans at?), but to my pleasant surprise, the winning song is Dil Meri Na Sune!

Dil Meri Na Sune – Genius

Background of the Song

Dil Meri Na Sune is a highly awaited collaboration between Himeshji and Atif Aslam, ever since they both appeared on the reality show Surkshetra. Himeshji has a unique method of bringing out the best of any singer under his guidance, and he has surely shown us a different side to Atif’s voice in this particular song.

Whenever I listen to the song, I feel that I can tell just how much Atif has enjoyed singing Himeshji’s composition, and how well his voice has carried the melody. There is also a reprise version of the song featuring singer Payal Dev. The reprise version is the same as the original except for the additional female vocals, but they are singing the original lyrics. I much prefer the original version of the song as not only is it highly melodious, but it also reminds me of some of Himeshji’s compositions as a music director.

Song of the Week: Holi Birajma ~ Genius

Published by under Genius,Song of the Week

Sarararara Holi Birajma! Tujhse Hai Rangoli Birajma…Tu Meri Humjoli Birajma…Tujhse Hai Holi Birajma…

Hello Reshammiyans!

Thanks to all of you who voted for the first song of the week from the Genius soundtrack. The winning song for this week is none other than the super colourful Holi Birajma.

Holi Birajma – Genius

Background of the Song

Holi Birajma has been sung by singer Jubin Nautiyal and surprisingly this is the first time that he has sung for Himeshji. The other surprising factor is that Holi Birajma is in a totally different genre, compared to the type of songs we usually hear Jubin sing, yet he has performed it so well with bags of energy and enthusiasm. I really do hope that we get to hear more songs from this duo as Himeshji always knows how to bring out the best of his singers.

The Holi Birajma promo, is my most favourite one from the film, as it is not only extremely colourful, but captures the essence of the song well and Utkarsh Sharma matches Jubin’s voice wonderfully on screen. Himeshji is truly the expert in giving us such authentic and traditional festival songs.

If you voted for Holi Birajma, do let me know why you like the song in a comment below.

We will vote for the next favourite song from the soundtrack next Sunday. Keep an eye at our twitter @HimeshjiFan4Eva for a reminder for this so that you don’t forget to vote.

Song of the Week (8): Main Teri Yaadon Mein ~ Sanam Teri Kasam

Published by under Song of the Week

Main Teri Yaadon Mein Jaaga…Main Teri Yaadon Mein Soya…Tere Bin Jeena Kya Mera…Tere Bin Main Mein Na Raha…

Hello Reshammiyans!

Today we shall complete our Song of the Week series for the Sanam Teri Kasam album. The last song which we shall discuss is the wonderful Main Teri Yaadon Main.

Main Teri Yaadon Main ~ Sanam Teri Kasam

Background of the Song

Main Teri Yaadon Mein is the last track on the Sanam Teri Kasam album. It has been sung by Arijit Singh, has lyrics by Subrat Sinha (Subratji worked with Himeshji on the Radio love on air album and also Damadamm). Himeshji has given a full electronic dance feel to this track, yet as always, he has kept the melody of the song very strong. It is surprising that he has chosen this kind of sound considering the song is a reflective and sad number. It is a shame that the song has not been featured in the film. Arijit has done an excellent job with the vocals, as he smoothly goes with the flow of the lyrics/melody and also alters the strength of his voice in particular sections.

If you like Main Teri Yaadon Mein from Sanam Teri Kasam, do share your thoughts with us about the song in the comments below.

Our Song of the Week feature shall return in the New Year with Himeshji’s second album of 2016 Tera Surroor.
