Teri Meri Meri Teri Prem Kahani Hain Mushkil…Do Lafzon Mein Ye Bayaan Na Ho Paaye…Ek Ladka Ek Ladki Ki Ye Kahani Hain Nayi…Do Lafzon Mein Ye Bayaan Na Ho Paaye…
Hello Reshammiyans!
Many thanks to all of you who voted for and participated in our very first Valentine Special Song of the Week!
It has been a very difficult task to pick 5 songs from Himeshji’s library as he has sung and composed some of the most beautiful romantic numbers of all-time!
We had asked you all to vote from 5 of Himeshji’s most romantic songs:
1) Aaja Ve (DamaDamm!)
2) Teri Meri (Bodyguard)
3) Aashiq Banaya Aapne (Aashiq Banaya Aapne)
4) Tera Mera Milna (Aap Kaa Surroor the moviee)
5) I Love You O Sayyoni (Aap Kaa Surroor)
Needless to say the winning song with 30 votes is Teri Meri from Bodyguard! Thanks to all of you who voted!
Background of the Song
Bodyguard marked Himeshji’s 101st film as a Music Director. Himeshji’s most celebrated music is with his brother and mentor Salman Khan. There were a lot of expectations from fans with the music of Bodyguard – and it certainly lived up to their expectations!
Teri Meri is the creation of both Salman Bhai & Himeshji’s inputs together. We have often been told how Salman Bhai has a good ear for music and he had heard the original tune of Teri Meri somewhere and decided they should incorporate it in the song. Esteemed singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Shreya Ghosal sing the vocals on this wonderfully composed track by Himeshji.
There are 3 versions of Teri Meri: Original, Reprise & Remix. In the original movie, it is the Reprise version which has been used; for it has the sound of a full orchestra therefore creating the necessary impact while watching the song in the theatre. Teri Meri has been loved by one & all – from the young to the elderly and it continues to be one of the most watched videos on YouTube with the current views reaching more than 8,000,000 million. The BBC Asian Network in the UK have said that Teri Meri & the songs of Bodyguard have been the most downloaded of 2011!
A song like “Teri Meri” does not come every day, every month or every year. It takes 1 special person to put their heart and soul into making such a wonderful composition that touches millions of people all over the world. God Bless you Himeshji – thank you for giving us a song that will stay with us forever!
Thanks to everyone who chose Teri Meri as their most favourite romantic song of Himeshji for Valentines Day 2012.
We look forward to reading your thoughts as to why you voted for this song.
Thanks to all of you who have voted week in week out to find our Song of the Week from Himeshji’s DamaDamm!
Here is what our list looked like from the first week of voting:
1) Aaja Ve Maahiya
2) Umrao Jaan
3) Tere Bina
4) DamaDamm! title track
5) Madhushala
6) Hum Tum
7) Yun Toh Mera Dil
8) Mango

10) Bhool Jaaun ft Sachin Gupta
Thanks to all of you who have told us your reasons for voting each song every week! It’s now time to round off this session of Song of the Week by discussing the beautiful rock ballad that is Bhool Jaaun!
Background of the Song
Bhool Jaaun is one of 2 promotional songs for DamaDamm!. It is a never seen before, first time collaboration between 2 highly talented Music Directors Himeshji & Sachin Gupta.
Sachin Gupta rose to fame with the smash hit songs of the movie ‘Prince’. He is also the creator of the popular song Doorie sung by Atif Aslam. Bhool Jaaun is his first time of working with Himeshji after being signed by Himeshji’s company HR Musik Ltd.
A heavily guitar driven track, the lyrics of Bhool Jaaun have also been written by Sachin and the video (which was released at Diwali last year) features Sachin & Himeshji together. The guitar is Sachin’s main instrument. The song has been appreciated by all and has been Number 1 on Deepa Rai’s Official People’s Network Chart Show on Sunrise Radio in the UK. The song is still currently in the Top 5 of the chart show!
I personally, am a big fan of this song & we look forward to future collaborations between Himeshji & Sachin :o)) I always smile when I hear Himeshji’s voice in the song… :o))
If you love Bhool Jaaun, please tell us your thoughts here!
We hope you have all enjoyed our Song of the Week feature! It will be back!
Dil Jo Kahe Wahi Karna Hain, Baandisha Mein Nahi Marna Hain Maine Socha Hain… Jeena Hain Har Mausam… I Need My Space! I Want My Freedom!
Hello Reshammiyans!
This has been our last week of voting for Song of the Week: DamaDamm! Thank you to all of you who voted over these past weeks! Our last voted Song of the Week is none other than the vivacious I Need My Space! We will still discuss Bhool Jaaun next week :o)
Background of the Song
A really peppy, rock based number, Himeshji has created I Need My Space, I Want My Freedom to explain the character Sameer’s difficulties that he faces in his relationship with Shikha.
One would expect Himeshji to sing in his original voice tone but he surprises all by singing in the middle octave – yet again proving his singing strength which many are beginning to realise.
The song talks about wanting to do what your heart tells you, breaking free from all boundaries and being able to be yourself for some time – a phase that many relationships go through.
The female vocals have been sung by Aditi Singh Sharma who also accompanied Himeshji on Madhushala & Mango.
The song has been wonderfully picturised with Sameer letting his hair down across Mumbai and realising his time for freedom has arrived!
No wonder it has made this week’s Song of the Week!
If you voted for the song, tell us why! Looking forward to all of your responses :o)
Many thanks to all of you who have voted week in week out for our popular feature Song of the Week! For the past 10 weeks we have been discussing the music of Himeshji’s hit film DamaDamm! and we have reached our penultimate week of voting this week!
What will be our song of the week in it’s last week of voting: the vivacious I Need My Space or the romantic Bhool Jaaun ft. Sachin Gupta?
Voting is in your hands: The poll will be open from today till next Sunday so make sure you submit your votes!
Jab Tum Jaati Ho…Jaldi Nahi Aati Ho…I Miss You Baby…Like Mango….Like Mango…
Hello Reshammiyans!
Thanks to all of you who voted for this week’s Song of the Week! It was a tough call again and Bhool Jaaun ft Sachin Gupta was leading the first part of the week only to be taken over by the ‘surprise’ song of DamaDamm!: Mango!
Background of the Song
It can be said that the song ‘Mango’, is a very spontaneous and impromptu number from Himeshji. Aditi Singh Sharma who accompanied Himeshji on ‘Madhushala’ also accompanies him on ‘Mango’ and we get to hear her sing in a totally different, very Western style. Again, something that has never been attempted before in Bollywood Music.
After seeing the song promo, it becomes clear to the viewer that Sameer sings the song to please his ‘nagging girlfriend’ Shikha who is constantly missing him and wishing she was there at the party.
Himeshji has used a completely different style of composing for this song and it features some very strong Western music elements and hence became this week’s Song of the Week
Yun Toh Mera Dil…Machalta Nahin…Asaani Se…Lekin Jabse Tujhko Dekha Dil Gaya Jaane Kya Tujhmein Baat Hain?
Hello Reshammiyans!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and welcoming you to a Christmas Special of our popular feature Song of the Week! I hope that many of you had the chance to watch DamaDamm! last Sunday as it premiered worldwide on Colors! I most certainly enjoyed the film, hope you all did too!
After a tight competition this week between Bhool Jaaun ft. Sachin Gupta (23 votes) & Yun Toh Mera Dil, Yun Toh Mera Dil took the lead with 33 votes and earned it’s place at being this weeks Song of the Week!
Background of the Song
Yun Toh Mera Dil is a very light, happy number and Himeshji has yet again tried to infuse a different style of music in this song. The song reminds one of a musical style called ‘samba’. The song talks about Sameer’s feelings for Sanjana and how he realises he is beginning to like her: ‘lekin jabse tujhko dekha, dil gaya jaane kya tujhmein baat hain?’ – Himeshji has used a lot of ‘happy expressions in the song too to emphasise this very point. After a long hiatus, Sadhana Sargamji who gave us many hit songs during the 1990′s accompanies Himeshji on the vocals for this song ‘shararat tumhari aankhon mein bhari hain…lekin ye aada bhi, achchi lag rahi hain…’
This happy melodious number truly deserves to be Song of the Week!
We hope you all will enjoy this week’s Song of the Week! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from the site team: Jem & Sunny :o)
