Hum Tum…Train Ki Do Patriyon Ki Tarah…Chalte Rahe Saath Saath, Milne Ki Tamano Mein…Dil Jaanta Nahi Milenge…Par Ik Umeed Hain…Jo Tooti Nahin…Meri Jaan…
Hello Reshammiyans!
Many thanks to all of you who voted for this week’s Song of the Week! The voting was very close this week and at one point I thought there would be a tie between Yun Toh Mera Dil & Hum Tum! But Hum Tum took the lead and has become this week’s Song of the Week!
Background of the Song
A slow, soulful number…Hum Tum reminds the listener of Himeshji’s music (e.g. Jaaneman)from Radio – Love on Air. SRGMP challenge 2009 winner Vaishali Made from Himeshji’s Rock Gharana accompanies Himeshji on the vocals throughout the song.
The lyrics of the song are penned by Sameerji. The song talks about the journey of a relationship that has still not come together but is living in hope: ‘Par Ik Umeed Hain…Jo Tooti Nahin…’ The song’s simplicity in terms of music, vocals are what make it stand out.
Himeshji’s soothing vocals truly make it a delight to listen to! No wonder it has been voted for as this week’s song of the week!
If you voted for Hum Tum, tell us why you love the song so much! Looking forward to reading all your thoughts as always!
Tere Jism Ki Khushboo Mein…Aankhon Ki Madhushala Mein…Kabhi Aar Gaya Kabhi Par Gaya….It’s Ishq Unplugged…
Hello Reshammiyans!
Thank you all for voting for this week’s Song of the Week! Finally after being in the Top 3 for the last few weeks, Madhushala wins the race and is our 5th Song of the Week!
Background of the Song
A unique duet sung by Himeshji & Aditi Singh Sharma (a member of the band Groove Adda & ‘Choomantar’ & Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge fame) the song Madhushala is a mix of 1950′s retro and today’s modern Bollywood.
The song opens and closes with English lyrics sung by Aditi: A love that is pure, a love that makes you sore…it’s Ishq Unplugged… what follows after is a blend of retro and bollywood rock that creates a wonderful fusion and keeps the listener in awe as they begin to understand the plight of protagonist Sameer’s difficulties as he flits between Shika & Sanjana.
Himeshji has sung in different tones for this song – a master of creating such fusion tracks – the listener is in amazement as he/she notices the effortless changes in Himeshji’s voice from ‘Tere Jism Ki Khushboo Mein…’ to ‘Prem Ki Iss Gaheri Nadiya Mein…’ he has proved yet again his versatility as a singer.
Aditi surprises all with not only singing in English but also the old-fashioned 50′s style ‘dag mag dag mag, mein hui sunke teri baat naseeli…’ It is a first for any female bollywood playback singer to sing in 2 distinct styles for 1 song.
The song has been picturised on Himeshji, Purbi Joshi & Sonal Sehgal and it’s clear popularity has made it this week’s Song of the Week!
Tell us your thoughts about why you like Madhushala and why you voted for it :o)
Thank you all for voting for this week’s Song of the Week! It was a very tight competition once again and for a few days the top 3 were 1) Madhushala 2) Bhool Jaaun 3) DamaDamm! title track. Up until yesterday I thought it would be Madhushala, but as always, you all surprise me and have made this week’s song of the week none other than DamaDamm! title track with 26 votes!
Background of the Song
The title song of DamaDamm! is a very unique composition by Himeshji as it a dance number with a strong Qawalli influence.
The song opens with the lines: ‘Tere Naina, Bada Jaduni Khanzar, Badke…Mere Dil De Aandar…Badhgaya…Tere Naina Vich Main Doob Jao, Aur Doobke Doob Hi Jaao…Baan Maare Naine Taare…’ which have been sung by singer Alam Khan, spoken by Punnu Brar and continued by Vineet Singh.
The song features 7 singers with Himeshji: Vineet Singh, Alam Khan, Palak Muchhal, Shabab Sabri, Sabina Shaikh, Rubina Shaikh & Punnu Brar all of which have been signed & launched by HR Musik!
There is also a remix version that accompanies the original song with a promotional video:
With the composition of this song, Himeshji proves once again how easily he can fuse both styles together – this is what makes his compositions unique.
Now it’s time to tell us your thoughts about why you voted for this week’s Song of the Week!
Thanks to all of you who discussed ‘Tere Bina’ last week! So far our top 3 from DamaDamm! are:
1) Aaja Ve Maahiya
2) Umrao Jaan
3) Tere Bina
It’s now that time to vote again for our new Song of the Week! What will it be this week: DamaDamm! title track? (with Vineet Singh, Alam Khan etc) Madhushala/Mango (with Aditi Singh Sharma) or Bhool Jaaun feat. Sachin Gupta? It’s up to you all to decide!
Voting will be open from today till next sunday – so make sure you submit your votes!
Thanks to all of you who have voted for this week’s Song of the Week! Our first song of the week was Aaja Ve Maahiya and our second song of the week was Umrao Jaan! This time, it has been a surprise win for Tere Bina as earlier in the week the votes were very close between Madhushala & DamaDamm! Mast Kalanadar! Since the release of DamaDamm! the votes for Tere Bina escalated to make it this week’s Song of the Week with 39 votes!
Background of the Song
Tere Bina is a beautiful, slow number that will immediately touch the listeners heart. The song’s lyrics have been written by Sameerji and Himeshji has sung the song in a lower octave which is different from his usual style. When listening to Tere Bina, one can tell the song clearly identifies the decisions the main character of the film Sameer is facing in his relationships. ‘Jaan Ke Bina, Koi Zinda Jaise…Mein Yahaan, Tere Bagair…’ A very light piano in the background, slow drum beats, and strings make this song a delight to listen to!
If you voted for Tere Bina, tell us how much you love the song :o)
Thanks to all of you who have voted for and discussed last week’s Song of the Week which was the brilliant ‘Umrao Jaan’ from Himeshji’s DamaDamm!
It is now time for us to vote for our 3rd favourite song of the week from DamaDamm!
With only 4 days left to go till the film releases, this Song of the Week will be a very special one for us indeed!
Voting will be open from today till next Sunday! So make sure you submit your vote as well as seeing DamaDamm! First day First show at a cinema near you on 27th October 2011!
Many thanks to all of you who have voted for this weeks Song of the Week! It was neck and neck between Umrao Jaan & the DamaDamm! title track but Umrao Jaan took the lead by one vote (28 votes in total) to make it to this week’s Song of the Week!!
Background of the Song
‘Umrao Jaan’ is the first song promo we all heard of Himeshji’s film DamaDamm! A full-on comedy song, Himeshji sings with his leading lady Purbi Joshi who is supporting him on the vocals with her ‘no touching, no touching, only seeing only seeing’ lines! This is a very unique composition from Himeshji – incorporating comedy, dance and fun together! The promo video shows Sameer trying desparately to ‘woo’ Umrao Jaan (Sonal Sehgal) in front of his girlfriend Shikha (Purbi Joshi). Written by Sameerji, the song is infectiously catchy with it’s prominent guitar hook line that makes it a winner on the dancefloor! There is also an accompanying remix version to the song. Umrao Jaan is undoubtedly a winner of this week’s Song of the Week!
Have you ‘learnt’ the dance step to Umrao Jaan? Have you made Umrao Jaan your caller tune? Tell us your thoughts about the song!!
