Do you remember Manoj Kumar’s film Clerk in which a war veteran Ashok Kumar, who is on his death bed gets up and begins to march when his son plays a patriotic song Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja? While that can be dismissed as highly improbable, here’s something that will make you sit up and take notice.
Recently, on the sets of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs, Himesh Reshammiya, who is one of the judges on the show, experienced the “touch of God”.
During the studio audition rounds, a five-year old Delhi boy Jayash Kumar sang Channa Mereya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil) and his singing was so soulful that Himesh went up to the stage and touched his feet in appreciation. “We were told that his heart is on the right side and I was shocked because it is unusual. He sang the song brilliantly — there was a divine energy in him. Yes, I touched his feet but that was done in jest. And, he also innocently placed his hand on my head and blessed me,” says the composer.
This Bollywood music industry talent may have spread his wings in different directions but music still remains the most important aspect of his existence. Well we are talking about music composer, singer, lyricist, producer, director and actor Himesh Reshammiya. This young prodigy is all set to judge his twelfth musical reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’. Not many know but the ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ hitmaker started his musical career at the age of 13, thus he is the perfect choice to judge a kids reality show.
Surprisingly this happens to be Reshammiya’s first at judging a kids reality show. “This is the first time I am doing a reality show with kids and I have actually become a child now. I am living my childhood through this show and learning so much from them. The kids keep pulling my legs and I am enjoying it thoroughly,” shared the ‘Aap Se Mausiiquii’ singer.
Himesh Reshammiya’s career spanning two decades has been constantly criticised — being slammed for his nasal voice and repetitive tunes. But more often than not, Himesh’s music has figured among all-time chartbusters and today has its dedicated fan following. He, in fact, admits that there are artistes who are more talented than him.
In an interview on the sidelines of his upcoming reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs, Himesh speaks about his journey in the film industry, the value of a hit song and why unlike other musicians, he doesn’t believe in writing autobiographies.
Mumbai, Feb 10 : Popular singer-composer and actor Himesh Reshammiya, who is all set to judge a new music reality show for children on television, said that as the independent music scenario and digital medium is booming, new talents have a lot of opportunities apart from playback singing.
Talking about how the playback singing scenario is becoming competitive and so many new talents are getting opportunities in new films, Reshammiya told the media here, “Though it is true that the time has changed and after every two years listeners look for new voices, new singers have more opportunities beyond playback singing.”

Our Rockstar is ready with the next video from the album which is for the energetic dance track Trippy. The song has been sung and composed by Himeshji with lyrics by Manoj Muntashir. Singer Neha Kakkar joins Himeshji on the vocals and supermodel Waluscha de Sousa features in the video. Check out the amazing video below:
Fan actress and gorgeous former model Waluscha De Sousa will soon raise temperatures in a gypsy avatar. After wowing everyone in the Shah Rukh Khan film, and making heads turn at recent red carpets, the lissome lady will feature in Himesh Reshammiya’s music video. The song is called Trippy and perfectly matches Waluscha’s free-spirited persona. It is a part of his album, Aap Se Mausiiquii that had already touched 25 million views on the Internet. Waluscha is thrilled to be a part of the album that has an assortment of tracks.
Talking EXCLUSIVELY to Bollywood Life, Waluscha said, “Well, I went to Himesh’s studio and he made me hear a couple of tracks. He had composed three tracks by then. When I heard Trippy, I instantly connected with it. It is a very contemporary racy number. It is out on iTunes and one can hear it there. The video will release pretty soon. The song has a very hippie and trance vibe to it. There is an element of romance in it as well. I am from Goa and could identify with the song’s mood. It has the gypsy feel in it. ” Himesh made Salman Khan’s rumoured girlfriend Iulia Vantur sing a song, Every Night and Day and with Waluscha on board, he promises a song that has the oomph quotient.
Himesh Reshammiya is a man of many talents. After giving numerous hit songs and acting in movies such as “The Xpose”, his fans will get to see him as a judge once again along with Neha Kakkar and Javed Ali in “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs Season 6”. While he has judged the other seasons of the show, he is judging “Li’l Champs” for the first time and was recently in the city for the auditions.
How does it feel to judge a kids’ reality show and how different is it from those for grown-ups?
I believe children are the gift of god and listening to their melodious voices makes me happy. The children of our country are really talented and the way they are coming up and presenting their talent is amazing. It is a show where the divinity of each kid will come out and the kids will make the viewers fall in love with them.
Judging kids is more difficult than judging grown ups. While judging a kid, you have to anticipate how he/she would be in the future. You have to take the right call in terms of the progress in singing because his/her voice is going through a change. But when you’re judging a grown up it is not that difficult because you are listening to what they are in the present stage. They are not going to go through a voice modulation. Judging a kids’ show is more difficult but that is the fun part. You are judging them at a stage when they are raw and that emotional and divine connection is there.
